The Moving Tiger Method's system of exercise has an interesting history (see What You'll Learn - Origins and Recent History).
According to the oral history of the system passed onto us by our teacher and his analysis of its design, the system seems to have been developed originally by Taoists, preserved and further refined by Buddhists, and adopted and taught widely by practitioners of traditional chinese medicine in China. Most recently, our teacher and his students also have taught the system widely in North America and Europe.
Hence the tradition of our system is not tied to any one way of thinking. Nor is it associated with any group of a particular persuasion, whether religious, philosophical, ethnic, or political.
The system long has been a tool that different people have adapted for their own use.
This is the spirit in which we teach it - all are welcome to learn from us without having to subscribe to any particular set of beliefs
However, although there are no ideological limitations on who can learn and teach the system, there are "technical" ones.
The techniques within the system can be done well or poorly. In general, if you do the exercises well, you will experience an awakening, freeing, balancing, and increase of your life energy. If you do the exercises poorly, you will experience these benefits less.
Therefore in the tradition of the system, there always has been rigor in the way that the exercises have been taught and who was allowed to teach them. This rigor has been maintained in order to preserve the integrity of the system, to ensure that it does not become watered down through weak teaching.
If the system becomes watered down, then students will not have the opportunity to learn how to to the exercises well.
We are seeking to preserve this rigor in the Moving Tiger Method through our system of learning levels and the selection and training of our teachers.
