Your Mind Moves Your Energy

Chinese medicine holds that "Your mind moves your life energy". What is meant here by mind is your "feeling awareness", your ability to feel your body.

Consider where your feeling awareness is right now. As you read, it's probably up in your head and in your eyes and perhaps in your hands.

And where is your life energy? It's also concentrated in your head, eyes, and hands.

What happens if you spend most of your waking hours with your mind only in a few parts of your body? Then your life energy concentrates and gets stuck in those places and is pulled away from other parts of your body. Your energy doesn't circulate through your whole body. You lose vitality and health.

The answer? Notice where your mind usually takes up residence. Then promote better energy circulation by making a conscious effort to try to occupy other parts of your body at times.

Make feeling your body a game that you play to boost your everyday energy. When you walk, play with feeling your legs and your feet. When you stretch your arms, directly feel your shoulders and neck. When you take a shower, feel where the water touches you - on your back, head, legs, feet, belly, everywhere.

You can make a special time to practice, or better yet, just sneak your practice into your everyday life. Feel your body while you are standing in line, sitting at stoplights, walking through your house, falling asleep (try feeling your feet to help the process along), anywhere, anytime.
