Your Weighted Foot
What's the most important part of your body when you do the Moving Tiger Method or other exercises?
Feel free to disagree, but isn't it the foot (or feet) that you have your weight on?
We have so many other "moving parts" that draw our attention when we practice, e.g. our hands, shoulders, hips, elbows, head, eyes, etc., that much of the time we forget about the foot or feet on which we're standing.
Yet that foot should be the foundation of our practice, just like it's the foundation of our body. Literally everything in our body rests on that foot or those feet.
So if that foot is uncomfortable or misaligned, then everything else in your body will be off as well, including your energy flow. By definition, if your foot is physically uncomfortable, then your energy is blocked there to some degree. In turn, the overall flow through your body will be diminished in proportion to the degree that the energy in your foot is blocked.
So this week when you practice, pay attention at any moment to the foot or feet that bear your weight. And whatever you do, find a way to maintain a bounce in that foot and ankle like that of a two-year old child. If the foot or ankle can't bounce and spring, something isn't right.
Have fun with your feet!
